A structured seasonal ear training for RCM Piano Levels 5–8 designed to build clarity, confidence, and calm before June exams.

Ear Training Gets Rushed.
In most private lessons, ear training gets squeezed in at the end. Repertoire and technique take priority.
By Level 5, everything suddenly feels harder.
-
Students freeze during playback.
-
Intervals blur together
-
Cramming becomes the plan.
That’s what this program fixes.
What Makes This Different
This isn’t extra homework.
And it’s not a collection of disconnected drills.
This is a clear 3-month progression:

Each month builds on the previous one so students walk into their exam steady — not scrambling.

-
Build reliable anchors for tricky intervals
-
Follow the bass line in chord progressions
-
Hear melody shape before worrying about exact notes
Goal: Orientation and clarity — not perfection.

-
Full-format mock ear tests
-

-
Identify final weak spots calmly
-
Build familiarity with exam format

Strengthen recall under pressure
Goal: Stability and confidence under exam conditions.
Phase 4 — exam month support
(Steady Reinforcement)

Focused review
-
Final clarifications
-
Reinforcing strengths

Students should aim for 10 minutes of focused ear training practice, 5 days per week, in addition to attending the weekly group session (or watching the recording if they miss it).
Short, consistent practice is far more effective than long, occasional sessions.
This program works best when students are willing to practise consistently.
Weekly group sessions are structured and scheduled.
If a student cannot attend live, recordings will be available.
Students can review materials and continue progressing.

Preparing for exams can feel overwhelming. I send thoughtful reflections about music learning — including ear training insights, stories from my studio, and practical ideas that help students feel steadier and more confident. I also share new videos, resources, and upcoming programs along the way.
