A joyful first piano experience — built for confidence and connection
Designed especially for homeschool families, Sliding Keys blends playful, student-centered learning with gentle structure, so piano becomes something your child looks forward to — not another task to manage.
Sliding Keys is a small, live group piano program where children don’t just learn notes — they learn how to feel confident, curious, and connected through music.

Music that connects — not just instructs
At Our Sound Playground, we believe music learning should connect children:

Sliding Keys is not about training performers.
It’s about nurturing everyday music-makers who enjoy playing, exploring, and sharing music.

What makes Sliding Keys different
Most beginner piano programs focus on reading first — and hope joy shows up later.
In Sliding Keys:
The result?
Children who feel capable, curious, and proud of what they can do.

Whole-body learning
Music makes more sense when children
experience it physically, emotionally, and socially.
Each lesson includes:

This approach helps children:
-
Understand rhythm and patterns naturally
-
Stay engaged without forcing focus
-
Remember more with less frustration
-
Feel safe trying new things

Parent partnership is part of the learning
From years of teaching, I’ve seen this again and again: children make the most progress when parents are part of the journey.
When parents are involved — even in small ways — children feel more confident, motivated, and successful.
This doesn’t require musical experience. It’s about encouragement, shared moments, and making music feel supported at home.

Is Sliding Keys a good fit?
This is a great fit if:
This may not be the right fit if:
And that’s okay — every child thrives in a different kind of learning environment.

What Parents & Students Are Saying

“Music class is so much fun! I really love playing the piano and I love learning with Ms. Helen… I also love practicing because each day I get better and better.”

Dhyana
Student
Mrs. Helen is a very patient and undersanding music teacher. She helped me find strategies that worked well for me, and I was able to perform very well under herguidance.
It is clear that she is very devoted to making sure her students do their best with the effort she puts into her lessons and her lessons and her encouraging attitude. Class with her has always been very fun, and I'm grateful I got to have her as a teacher.

Ginny
RCM Ear training student
"Helen is a kind and dedicated teacher who wants her students to be successful and grow as musicians. She has been working with my son for over five years and we have seen him develop as a singer over this time.
We are thankful to have her preparing our son for auditions, his RCM exams and concerts and for supporting him with so many musical opportunities."

Christie, Parent
"We cannot express enough gratitude to Mrs. Helen for teaching our daughter. She is a truly talented and humble individual who brings on unmatched level of patience.
The positive environment has not only helped her grow in skill but has also nurtured her love for music."

Sri, Parent
"I had a wonderful time working with Ms. Helen. She was patient and kind. Ms. Helen helped me overcome obstacles by making things fun. She was really positive and made me think I could do anything. I never would have gotten to where I was without Ms. Helen."

Dalia, Piano student

Even if you’re not ready to enroll yet, I send thoughtful notes about music learning — stories from my studio, reflections from motherhood, and ideas for helping children experience music more joyfully. From time to time, I also share new classes, free resources, and behind-the-scenes updates.

Meet Your Teacher
With 25 years of experience and two little kids of my own, I've created Our Sound Playground - a fun, supportive space where students, especially shy kids and perfectionists, can explore, connect, and gain the confidence to share their music.
I'd love for you to jump in, explore, and make music with us - because the best playgrounds are the ones we build together!
